What Time Is It? GRADE-Thirty!!

Better check those SnapGrades, kids...it's the end of the 2nd 6 weeks (yes, already), and some of those grades are dangerously low. If you fail the 2nd 6 weeks, it's going to be AWFULLY hard to dig yourself outta that hole and do well for the semester.

Come see me about missing grades. In the meantime, concentrate on editing every day this week to earn your 5 daily points. Any off-task behavior, like visiting with friends, playing on the internet, etc., will result in a zero AND a really embarrassing phone conversation between you and your parent/guardian during class.

Illustrated Poem Film due Friday Nov. 5th

You'll have today, and Monday/Wednesday to finish editing your project. Team members will vote on the best version of the project, and upload that to our Vimeo account.

You are trying to earn 5 points per day for editing, and the film itself is worth 100 points. I'll be visiting with each of you to review what you've edited so far.

Downloading and Editing

EVERY team member must download footage to their own computer before the team can begin editing their POEM project. You'll earn 5 points every day that we edit; if you are on task, you earn your points. Goof off, waste time, surf the internet, etc.-- 0 points and you must call home to tell your parents what you've been up to.

We'll spend this week editing your Poem project.

Filming Today?

We have some groups scheduled to film today; if they're ready, we'll all head out the door.

If we don't wind up filming, we'll begin studying 3-point lighting, and how to use lighting equipment.

Don't forget--your footage is due this coming Monday, Oct. 25th; after that we'll be editing!

This is the last week of filming for your "Illustrated Poem" project; you need to see me ASAP if you need to film during class time.

Next week we'll get into editing the Poem project, and begin our studies on Lighting.

The Deadline Approacheth.....(cue menacing sounds)

With only 10 calendar days left to film, it's important that you're communicating with me and with your team about what still needs to be done. Remember, we can always use class time next week; you just have to let me know, and make sure your team is ready to film at that time.

Ladies and gentlemen, there will be NO EXTENSIONS ON THIS DEADLINE. You have been given ample time to complete the production phase of this project. If you miss the deadline, you will call your parents during class to explain why you are failing the second six week term.

Speaking of which, did you realize that we're at the 9-week mark in the semester? Guess what THAT means......

Holey Moley! Who's interested in an internship????

I received this email last night from our Principal, Mrs. Griego:

OPPORTUNITY : APS COMMUNICATIONS OFFICE WOULD LIKE US TO INVITE “ANY OF OUR” STUDENTS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN INTERNING AT CENTRAL OFFICE WITH THEM (IT WOULD BE WORK WITH THE WEB EDITOR AND OTHER MEDIA PEOPLE) IF YOU HAVE INTERESTED STUDENTS SEND THEIR NAMES DIRECTLY TO LESLEY MOLECKE ATLesley.molecke@aps.edu .

Okay okay okay so that's YOU!!! Ladies and gentlemen, the people that design the APS Website, take the photos, do the interviews, FILM ALL OF THE SCHOOL-RELATED EVENTS AROUND ALBUQUERQUE AND EDIT/POST THE FOOTAGE are looking for high school aged students to intern with them! Ohmigosh this is AWESOME!
Of course, they will want to work with students who have reliable transportation (mom loves driving you around, you have your own car, your cousin will give you a ride, you love the public bus, etc.) and a strong interest in Media/Communications/Creative Technologies.
See me, and we'll start working on an application statement; I'll submit your name to Ms. Molecke.

Storyboards Due Today!

Your team will need to complete and submit a 12-panel storyboard (that's both sides of the Storyboard Form) by the end of class today for 36 points.
Requirements:

1. At least 6 different shot types must be used in your storyboard.
2. Do not repeat the same shot across 2 panels; visual variety helps make your film interesting!
3. Don't draw shots you don't intend to use. Keep it realistic.
4. Label each shot with the SHOT TYPE and a short description of the action taking place.

Make sure team members' names, Period 1 and today's date are on the storyboard.
